Fly With Me

Hey up Tuesday blog hoppers how you all doing? Do you remember the quick peek of a demo sample I was in the middle of making that I showed you on Thursday? Well I have another sample to show today, this time it is a complete project and not just a peek!

It's a Basically Bare hanger with a bit of a steampunk theme.

I've used the Bare Basics Gears set and run them through my Cuttlebug in an embossing folder and painted with acrylic paints.

The hot air balloon is from the Up Up and Away Basically Bare set and I treated the canvas balloon with a bit of ZIG Fabricolor twin colour through a mask and then stamped with Archival and added some stitching.

So lots of textures to play with! All the Basically Bare items are available from the Kuretake Shop btw.

I have some other samples to show at a later date but before I go I just wanted to let you know about my new article in the latest issue of Papercraft Essentials PE81.

It's the Kiss stamping masterclass and I've used Hero Arts stamps for this one, hope you like it!

La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday - {Spots And Stripes}

Do not adjust your screens! You will be seeing spots in front of your eyes today as that is the theme this week over at La-La Land Crafts - Spots and Stripes.

I have a princely make - it is the little Prince Luka and you can find him as either a rubber stamp or a digi stamp.

He is a quick little birthday card for a nephew and I kind of have a grey thing going on at the moment which isn't your usual kids colour but I thought that the busyness of the spots and stripes would more than compensate!

He looks very regal don't you think?

As always there are some more La-La Land Crafts makes to go look at on the La-La Land Crafts blog both today and on Friday, and I've seen what the other guys have done with this week's theme and it is gorgeous well worth a look-see!

Capture The Moment

Hope you are all capturing the moment today, well at least capturing some moments hopping some blogs.

I've managed to break my pinks, purple and blue phase with the Umount Birds A5 Stamp set from Creative Expressions for my DT make this week.

Gone all blue, yellow and green instead! The crackle is from the Umount Texture A5 Stamp set and the sentiment is from Umount Vintage Photo A5 set.

Flying By With A Work In Progress And Demo News

Just a bit of a fly by from me today, I'm in the middle of some last minute sample making for my demo this Saturday at Stamp Addicts in Bedford.

Here is a little sneaky peek at one of the samples...

You guessed it I'm doing a Basically Bare Demo for Kuretake this week. He is one of the felt Owls from the Stackabellies Owls kit and I've done a bit of stitchery on him.

Right, well I better get on. Hope to see you between 10am-4pm at Stamp Addicts. I won't be the only person demoing, it is a free demoing event so should be great fun!

Flying High In A Hot Air Balloon

How about a little trip in a hot air balloon today? I've always liked the idea of it but have yet to try it, what about yourselves? Ever been for a hot air balloon flight? What is it like?

I don't think we would fit into this little hot air balloon though! It is one of the Basically Bare from the Signature Range available from Kuretake, it is called Up Up and Away and you get two balloons in the set - a fabric one and an acrylic one, with a corrugated cardboard basket and a chipboard basket.

This one is the acrylic balloon with the chipboard basket.

All the colour is from the ZIG Painty Markers and I've used a collage background. The little flower button is made from the Basically Bare Bare Basics Blossoms and Leaves.

I've got full instructions on how to put this make together if you are interested - it is on the Kuretake blog.

La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday - {Hey Girlfriend}

Hey Girlfriends and Boyfriends, you see a lot of La-La Land Crafts cute little Lukas and Marcis here on my blog for my La-La Land Crafts DT makes but did you realise there are the Girlfriend range as well? If you have seen my article in issue 75 of Papercraft Essentials that came out around December last year then you will have been introduced to Ally and Jesalyn already.

But if you haven't here is Ally...

She is elegant and sophisticated - the complete opposite to me! Tee Hee!

I've matched her up with Prima Marketing papers, the lovely Almanac paper pad, but I added a bit of red to the paper and some of the Stampendous Frantage Shabby White embossing enamel (I'm in love with the Stampendous Frantage range btw! Have you tried it?)

Before I go I wanted to share something else that I'm really excited about at the moment...

La-La Land Crafts Dies.

Oh yeah you heard me right! Irina and Eric have been designing their own dies to add to the La-La Land Crafts range and they are BEAUTIFUL! But you don't have to take my word for it, go take a look yourself!

OMG did you see that Eiffel tower? And that Dress form? And the butterflies? And the...yep another thing I'm in love with *sigh*

Creative Expressions time! I have my DT make using the Umount Birds A5 Stamp plate that all the DT are using this month.

I thought I would go for a little inky ATC.

This is the second DT piece I've done with this set and I don't know why but I'm in a real pinks, purples and blue mood for this set! The colour was achieved with acrylic inks this time.

The background was stamped with the Umount texture A5 Stamp plate before I added some tissue and the colour. The birdcage, bird and swirls where stamped onto acetate.

But I think this will be the last thing I do because, thanks to David, I've now discovered this Livestream of kitty cats - Oh man seriously cute!

WARNING - once you click through you may never do anything else on your computer again!

Don't say that I didn't warn you!

Hello Sunshine, we can but wish - it is raining here but in my heart there is sunshine, even if it is dark and dreary outside.

Do you guys remember this make from a couple of weeks ago?...

Well the challenge is now up on the Kuretake blog and the prize is £50 to spend in the Kuretake shop which is full of yummy pens and Basically Bare products so you ain't gonna want to miss this one! Deadline to get your makes linked is the 11th May.

Talking about Basically Bare products you can see more of them in the current issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft Issue 97...

I'm in this issue too, I have a funky father's day article using the retro cute stamps from Paper Smooches - Perpetual Bliss and Bube Tubes - both available from Make The Day Special. You can spy one of my makes on the cover - the one with the retro tellies.

I've got an article in Creative Cardmaking issue 41 as well that might pique your interest if you want to know more about the ZIG Art and Graphic Twin Watercolour markers.

I've used the pens in all sorts of different ways so hopefully lots of food for creative thought in your craft!

Inspiration Monday - {All Wired Up}

I'm particularly wired today, well actually my project is wired not me personally! We have a new inspiration theme at La-La Land Crafts this week - you guessed it - All Wire Up!

It is all about adding wire, or chains, to your makes. So I thought about it for a bit. I knew I wanted to add wire to my flowers, and I was thinking circle flowers - I do have a love of circle flowers. But I wanted to do a bit of stitchery so here is what I came up with this week...

Some Embroidery Hoop art using one of the gorgeous new release La-La Land Crafts stamps - Watercan Marci.

Cute isn't she? I'm a big fan of Hoop Art as you can see from my Hoop Art Pinterest board.

The flowers and leaves are made from my other obsession at the moment - Washi Tape.

The sentiment is from the Marci With Lantern set.

Ok so perhaps I should stay away from trying to come up with punning titles - *sigh*

Ah hem, moving on...It's a new stamp set for the Creative Expressions DT and for the merry month of May we are working with the Umount Birds A5 Stamp set.

So here is my first make with these stamps...

I've used the multicoloured embossing technique with black and silver embossing powders onto a linen textured card to give that extra texture to the embossing.

But what about the watercolour wash background? I've used one of my favourite colouring materials - ok, so I do have a few favourites, as you know, but these are in my top 10, possibly even top 5...It is the Caran D'Ache Neocolor II watersoluble wax pastels.

Oh and you might have noticed that it is raining here?!

Another Paint Party Friday

I have another painty play with the Paint Party Friday gang to share today. This one is a WIP (work in progress) and has been for a couple of years now. It has no name so if you fancy suggesting one go ahead - would love to hear your thoughts!

It's another layered piece on paper using gesso to build textures then acrylic to add colour,

and I've used a mask as well.

Ticket To Fly

Hey all, how are you doing with your mid-week creating? Having fun? what have you been up to? I've been doing a lot of tearing and sticking, preparing some journal page backgrounds for painting. So thought I would continue the tearing theme with this little mixed media card.

I've used the Prima Marketing Almanac papers for this card today, in fact every thing is Prima today!

The bird is a rub on from the Prima Tea and Silk collection and I've rubbed her onto card that I've coloured with Tim Holtz Ranger Distress stains first.

The flowers are the Homespun Bittles Prima Flower embellishments, I've been saving these for a special make, I just love the texture of them!

I used the lovely Prima cling mount Songbirds stamps to stamp out the foliage in black Stazon and Gold acrylic paint on acetate.

And then stamped out the tickets from the same kit to layer on the painted corrugated card with the strips from the Prima Almanac paper.

All a bit of layering fun!

La-La Land Crafts New Release Day!

Mini Tag Ads Saturday

As promised here is my Creative Expressions DT make for the week and my last make using the Wendy Vecchi Stufio 490 The Voice of Art stamp set before the DT move onto next month's stamp set - you will have to wait to see what it is!

This week I've gone with a mini tag using the receipt stamp, advert stamp and part of one of the sentiment stamps from The Voice Of Art set.

I've used Ranger Tim Holtz distress inks to distress the piece and Ranger Adirondack Alcohol inks to colour the metal. The advert is stamped with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens.

With a bit of doily and some stitchery to add texture.

Something Different With Paint Party Friday

Ok so Friday is usually my Creative Expressions blog post day but this Friday I wanted to do something a little different. I thought I would join in with the folks over at Paint Party Friday and show one of my painty makes.

I love playing with acrylic paints it is one of my favourite things and I find it really calming getting messy with paint, but I don't always show you guys my painty makes. One of the things I wanted to do with my blog this year was to show some of my more experimental arty stuff in amongst my papercraft stuff.

You know me, I am a bit of a fidget bum and I like doing all sorts of arty / crafty things and I can't nail myself down to just one thing.

So here is a piece I've called 'Pit' and it is acrylic paint and collage on paper.

It is a dark and textured piece.

I'll let you bring your own interpretation to it!

But it is actually an old piece, I did it around about October/ November 2010.

It was the lovely Annette from Netty's Craftings that first introduced me to the Paint Party Friday blog - Thanks Annette

Before I tell you about this week's Demo how do you fancy a little altered canvas? It is a little sample I made for Kuretake recently and I've been meaning to blog it for a while now.

If you saw the Create and Craft show on the 23rd March you would have seen a tiny peek of it as they showed the ZIG Painty Markers and Basically Bare Stackabellies Birds and Basically Bare Blossom and Leaves also available over at the Kuretake shop.

I also used some Washi tape and gesso with a little bit of stamping for this make.

And the leaves were coloured with ZIG Art and Graphic Twin pens.

The little chipboard bird was covered with a book page collage before adding colour with the Clay coloured ZIG Painty marker.

Spring Into Flowers With ZIG Calligraphy Pens

I've been doing lots of ZIG Calligraphy flowers in my demoing recently so perfect time to be making little ZIG Calligraphy flower backgrounds for this month's Kuretake challenge over on the blog which is all about 'Spring' and all the DT have been doing lots of lovely flowery makes.

Have you tried using the ZIG Calligraphy pens to do flowers yet? It isn't hard once you have worked out how to do a 'S' or a 'C' shape then all you need to do is to remember to turn the paper after each petal and join the tops of the shapes. Check out the Kuretake channel on YouTube to see how.

My piece is a mixed media journal page called 'Spring Dress Form'.

Do you remember the work in progress from last week? Well this is what it turned into! I built up a torn paper collage onto kraft paper then painted it with acrylic paint.

I used the ZIG Calligraphy pens to draw the flowers, butterflies and vines, then used various stamps to add the extra texture.

You can get the two tone petals by blending the pens and again you can see more on the Kuretake channel on YouTube to learn how to do this.

The dress form is stamped on acetate, book page and card.

Inspiration Monday - {Windows}

Hello Inspiration Monday! It is time for some more La-La Land Crafts and this week the La-La Land Crafts Team is working to a 'Window' theme, so adding a window of some sorts to your make.

I thought I would go for a little tag with a bake sale theme and a little shop window for the lovely Baking Marci who is available as both a rubber stamp and a digi-stamp.

She is one of my favourites!

Ready for the weekend? It isn't just any old weekend...it is The Big Stamp and Scrapbook Show (BSSB) weekend! I get excited about this show because it is in my home town of London! YAY! But I'm not sure I'm going to make it as I have my demo in Staines tomorrow and other commitments on Sunday - but hey ho...saving money by not going I suppose *sulk*.

For those of you who are going have a fabulous time and go pop in on the Creative Expressions stand whilst you are there, they are usually the large stand at the back of the room and have lots of demos going on.

Meanwhile I have my Creative Expressions DT make for you. The DT are still using this month's stamp set Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 The Voice Of Art Stamp Set.

I've used the lady from the stamp set as my focal point in my last two makes (this ATC and this tongue-in-cheek card) so I thought I would just use a sentiment and the great ledger stamp this week.

The colour is from the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress inks refills mostly. I only have two, the Spun Sugar and Tumbled glass but they happen to be my favourite colour combo (probably why they are in my stash). Any extra colour you spot was provided by my ZIG Art and Graphic pens.

Hey Boys and Girls, how are you all doing? Having some creative fun?

It has been busy here in Kimberley Towers, as you can tell from the slight dip in posting on the blog - D'oh! Blog Posting Fail!

So here is a catch up.

As you know I did my second Hobbycraft demo for Kuretake in Greenford last week.

My next Demo is this Saturday, 14th April, in the Staines Hobbycraft, 10am to 4pm - See you there! BTW have you been checking out the demo page on the Kuretake blog to see if there is a demo in your area?

The Easter break seemed to just fly by! We took advantage of the fact that the whole of London seems to have gone away for Easter and went out and about to take in some sights.

We had a little trip to the Saatchi Gallery to take in some contemporary art, which is always worth a look.

But I'm also managing to get a bit of art done myself, which makes a change! Here is a little peak at a work in progress...

We shall see what it turns into! And yep that is the washing machine and the kettle, I'm in the 'painting section' of my studio, yes you guessed it - the kitchen!

Inspiration Monday - {Hair Colour}

Ok so, as readers of my blog you will know that I like to play about with the hair colour of my subjects, not always sticking to the 'usual' hair colours, you may even say I'm obssessed!

But this week at La-La Land Crafts the inspiration is all about using different hair colour- not the usual colours that you might find.

YAY! Right up my street!

I thought I would give the fab Soccer Luka a bit of a team colour make over for his footy match!

You can find him as a rubber stamp or a digi stamp.

So what do you think? Team colour stripes the new must have football hairdo?

Hey Friday Frollicers it is Creative Expressions time and this week I've got a little 'tongue-in-cheek' card for you today. Thought I might do a bit of stamp altering to pose the eternal dilemma...

Blonde or Pink?

Hey?

Hair colour - silly!

I've used the gorgeous Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 The Voice of Art stamp set with a little bit of jiggery pokery - a craft technical term.

I stamped our girl out twice, cut her arm from one image and then cut the other image out removing the part of the arm I didn't want. Then I filled in the rest of the arm image on the skirt with refill black ink. That might make more sense to you if you go look at the original image.

The two mirror image ladies took a bit of reverse stamping and masking to pull off.

The background is all done with my ZIG Art and Graphic pens, the fab ledger stamp from The Voice of Art stamp kit and then I stamped out some swirls with gold acrylic paint.

Tee Hee!
