At the start of December I really wasn't sure that I would have anything to share for my December Art Slice Round-up. I will let you into a little behind the scenes secret, my phone is not good enough to take high definition film. So at the moment I am actually using an old point and shoot camera and editing the films on my computer. I then upload them to my phone to put music on and to upload them to Instagram.
[My filming 'studio']
I know, mad right? So, yeah if you could find a more complicated way to do a less than 60 second video I'm sure I would be doing it! You can guess they take me a lot longer than 60 seconds to put together can't you?!
But doing them has been such a help to me, first I have learnt a lot about video editing (and am still learning - obviously), second it has just simply made me do more filming, which was one of my goals for 2016 and is still one of my goals for 2017. The more you do the more the process becomes easier and you become better at it, just as with everything else.
So I would massively recommend that if making videos is one of your goals this year, but you have been finding it hard to get started, then try doing something small to break into it and challenge yourself to do it regularly.
[Idea generation and practice before filming!]
But of course the best part for me is if you have been enjoying them! If you have enjoyed any of my Art Slices or have been inspired by any of them, even just one of them, then that has made it all the more worthwhile for me and puts a huge smile on my face when you get in touch to let me know, so thank you to everyone who has!
So are you ready for my December's Art Slices?
I love patterns and doodles and practicing my mark making, so this art slice was a random mark making doodle from my junk journal.
I could probably fill page after page like this, it is very therapeutic, try it!
Sharpie paint pens - black and white
Some more flowers and some work on a page which was already covered with dripping experiments I had done to work out an article project from last year with.
This is actually a sneak peek from a larger journal page walk-through video that is on my list to voice over in the future! So keep an eye out for that.

Drawing Exercise - Mushrooms
Yesterday I told you about my new daily drawing exercise challenge to myself for 2017 and how you can join in too, well here is the Art Slice video of it in action!
It was fun changing pens, it forces you to think up other ways of drawing the subject, great tip if you are finding it hard to come up with new forms of whatever you are drawing.

Quick Technique With Crayola Slick Stix
This was actually a request video from Magia (@Magia_Guarini on Twitter) asking for some Slick Stix ideas.
I really love using the Slick Stix with water to drip and these colours work so well together and blend nicely. If you want some other ideas for both Slick Stix and Distress Crayons I have a video with some suggestions called 'Tim Holtz Distress Crayons Versus Crayola Twistables Slick Stix' you can watch.
